Live updates: Obaseki wins 11 local govts in official results announced by INEC

The collation of the announcement of the Edo state governorship election is on-going on Sunday, September 20. Voting in the ongoing governorship election in Edo state ended yesterday, September 19, followed by the counting of votes. There are 14 governorship candidates participating in the election, but the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are believed to be the top contenders in the race. Records at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that 1.72 million people are eligible to vote in the election, while 483,796 eligible voters will not participate in the poll for failure to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Official results from Owan West LGA (as announced by INEC) 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owan East local government area of Edo state. The results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicates that the PDP polled 11,485 to defeat APC that scored 11,193.

The results announced by the INEC indicates that the APC defeated the PDP in Owan East local government area of Edo state. The opposition party polled 19,295 to defeat the PDP that had 14,762.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again defeated its main challenger in the Edo governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ovia North-East. INEC announced that while PDP polled 16,987, APC scored 9,907.

APC wins Etsako West local government as INEC releases new results The All Progressives Congress (APC) took the lead in Etsako West local government area of Edo state as the new results of the governorship election held in the state on Saturday, September 19, trickled in. The main opposition party in the state polled 26,140, to defeat the ruling PDP that scored 17,959.

Official results from Oredo LG (as announced by INEC) The INEC results in Oredo local government indicates that PDP polled 43,498 to defeat APC that scored 18,365.

NECO to Reschedule Examination due to #EndSARS Protest

  The ongoing #EndSARS protests across the country has forced the National Examinations Council (NECO) to reschedule one of its Senior SChool Certificate Examinations papers currently ongoing across the country. NECO in a statement in Minna on Sunday evening signed by its Head Information Unit, Mallam Azeez Sani, said the Computer Studies Practicals paper 1 earlier scheduled to take place on Monday 19 October 2020, 10am to 1pm has been rescheduled for Monday 16 November 2020, 10am-1pm. Mallam Sani disclosed that the decision to reschedule the Examinations followed blockage of free movement of vehicles at the City gate in Benin, the Edo state capital, hence the inability of the council vehicles to deliver the papers for the Monday Examinations.
